Hello,

The other day I applied the 6 critical updates to a
remote server on my WAN. I could not Remote Desktop into
it after the reboot. I can ping it and connect to it
using the UNC path. I looked at the services on the
server and the service for Terminal Services was all of a
sudden disabled (Which I thought was odd). I changed it
to start automatically and tried to start it but it just
says "Starting" and never starts. I've re-booted it
several times with the same results. Any ideas?

Thanks

I assume that you installed the updates while logged in through an
rdp session? That leads sometimes to problems like this.
Anything in the EventLog?
Have you tried to run Windows Update once more, this time directly
from the console?

Yes, I was logged in to the server via a Remote Desktop
connection. We do this all of the time at my company
because we have a lot of remote sites across the country.
There is nothing in the event log and I would have to
travel to the site to log on locally and apply the
updates again. I only want to travel there as a last
resort.
