I have been trying to update my recent install of Windows XP and whenever I
download the updates for either of these service pack they both stop many of
the "services" I need running to work through XP. One example, the network
service. I cannot create a internet connection and one simpler problem is
that it knocks out the "sounds" from my audio card.

How can you get all services needed to start when the pc boots?

Thanks!

which version of XP are you running?
what are you trying to do with it?
What have you already managed to screw up?
some general ideas for service dis/enabling are here....
www.blackviper.com
but note that the default works fine for 99.9 percent of home users - and
the rest have problems <g>

Just adding: -

Windows XP SP3-based client computers cannot access the network when some
DHCP information is unavailable

No Sound - Right click my Computer and select Manage
Under Services and Applications select Services
Scroll down to Windows Audio and make sure it is set to AUTOMATIC
