After a automatic Service Pack upgrade. Now my browser will only work for
at the first web site I go to after a reboot. Trying to go to a second site
will give a blank page and say Timed out?
I have run Virus scans and spybot. Any Ideas would sure be helpful.
E-mail and Newsgroups are not affected.

Do you have your own firewall. If yes, if you have not already done so,
turn off the XP firewall which is enabled by default in SP2. Open Control
Panel, open Windows Firewall and disable the firewall.

NOTE: if this is your only firewall, only disable it if you have a separate
firewall or acquire on, there are several free firewalls available:
www.agnitum.com
www.zonelabs.com
www.sygate.com
http://www.tinysoftware.com/home/tiny2?la=EN
http://www.kerio.com/kerio.html

Do not run with no firewall as they block ports through which some viruses
might enter and your antivirus software may not detect it before it
executes.

I have the same problem but additionally my email will not work, it tells me
that the server was found but did not respond in a timely fashion. The only
way to get my pc to work was to uninstall SP2

As with the OP, it sounds as though it is a firewall issue but since you've
uninstalled SP2, I assume this is a moot point.

If you have your own firewall, I'd XP's built in firewall and see if that
resolves the issue.

I disabled the XP firewall, uninstalled Zone Alarm and there was no
difference. I will not re-install SP2!
