I am simply a desktop support person. Since we were hit
with the worm virus, we began installing the critical
patch. I personally have 400 machines that I have
physically install the patch on. Almost completed with
the patch today, Microsoft issues a new patch to close
port 80 this morning. My boss wants me to install the
patch on all the machines asap. The way they do us techs
today is crazy. Anyway, is there a way that we can
globally give the power users the right to install this
themselves outside of me traveling from machine to machine
installing. I think the server administrators are missing
the point. Any help will be appreciated.
I hope you understand my request.
Thanks

Hi David,

You could make them the local administrators using the restricted groups.
320065 How to Configure a Global Group to Be a Member of the Administrators
http://kb/article.asp?id=Q320065
- esnure that you add the domain admin to the list of users if you do not
have the following patch:
810076 Updates to Restricted Groups Behavior of User-Defined Local Groups
http://kb/article.asp?id=Q810076
After the new patches are installed, you could disable the policy.
