Hi,

Please help...

After putting a USB2 card in my machine, I was informed
that I required the XP service pack 1 (which I didin't
have loaded on my machine). I went to updates and
downloaded the express version and waited for it to do
it's thing after downloading and installing the damn thing
froze. I waited and waited (approx 40 minutes) for some
thing to happen but the screen just stared back (no mouse
pointer or keyboard control).

In frustration I turned the computer off... when it
rebooted it started to load and gave me the option to run
in safe mode etc. but when I tried all variations I would
get as far as the splash screen and then it would reboot
itself.

I have reloaded XP Prof. in another folder, which allowed
my to gain access to my files but it appears that 600 mgb
have disappeared off my C drive.

what can I do??? any suggestions would be gratefully
received.

Julie

Thanks Jupiter,

I noted in the webpage you had included that it said...

4. You should have at least 2gb free space (Less than
half that is needed for SP1a, but if you are that close,
you need to start looking for ways to free space or add
another hard drive.)

I only had about 700MB available at the time perhaps this
was the cause... I will do the fresh install,

Many Thanks

Julie
