Service Pack - Failed to install catalog files

Attempting to load SP4 and have also tried SP1. Sourced
variuosly from the MS Website and from CD. Plenty of disk
space Virus checker not running BUT always ends with same
problem "Failed to install catalog files". Anyone know of
a solution?
