I can't get the 'check for updates' feature to work, under Help in VS.net
2003. I searched the microsoft site and didn't find any service packs
either -except for VS6.

I just recently installed VS.net 2003, and am guessing that a service pack
or two have been released by now? If so, where would I find them?

Thanks!

Mike

No service packs were released for Visual Studio product. There were service
packs for Compact Framework (1 and 2) and the full framework SP1 will be
released soon.

Oh boy, I'm feeling stupid for asking this one - but... the compact
framework sp is obtained and then installed on the handhelds? Or is it a
part and needing installed as a part of VS? Pardon my ignorance - I come
from the long past days of handheld development...

Thanks for the reply Alex,

Mike

The redistributable comes in two flavors - end-user and developer. Neither
integrates with Visual Studio, but you can copy CABs into the approapriate
directories in VS installation. The end-user redist contains an installer
that installs the latest version onto a connected device. The dev redist
does not have the installer, but comes with all CABs including the one
required for emulator

End-user:

Developer:

Alex,

Do you think there will EVER be a service pack for VS 2003?

I think it's particularly lame that some of the obvious bugs are allowed to
continue. I mean, you don't do this with your other products, and developers
in particular notice this kind of thing! We write software. We debug
software. Bugs in the development environment are very annoying and show a
certain lack of self respect. So... I am encouraging you to get a service
pack out as soon as you can. Please. Fix things like - the editor "losing"
the form editing ability, and spontaenous tab reorder. That sort of thing.
Big, obvious, bugs.

Please don't call is VS.2005, that's twice as lame.

Thanks for listening! ;-)

Oh, I agree - service pack is a good thing. Of course since I don't work and
have never worked for Microsoft I can hardly influence it's arrival time.
