Please Help,
My name is Andy Dykstra and I am a student technician in
the foreign languages laboratory at the University of
Miami. I tried to install service pack 4 for Windows 2000
and did not archive the files. Windows will not start.
This computer is vital to the funcionality of our lab, and
I could even lose my job. Please give any suggestions on
recovery. Thank you.

Hi Andy

The only thing that comes to my mind is that you could try an "In-Place
Upgrade of Windows 2000". To learn how to do this go here:

- "How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows 2000":

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;292175

To see what such an Upate changes and what it does not change go here:

- "What an In-Place Windows 2000 Upgrade Changes and What It Does Not
Change"

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;306952

If possible do a backup of your drive first, it's recommended.

Hope this helps. Good luck and Regards,

Fabio

I think your toast. Did the same and did archive the
files. FTP and and anything that used file transfer
including the windows update function stopped working. Had
to back it out to get everthing working again. If you have
a backup I would get it. Could try reinstalling Windows
it might repair the bad DLL's. Good luck
