service pack 3

I am having problems installing SP3 on my computer as I don't have the
Windows XP standard CD that is required to install. The only CD that I have
is the reinstallation CD from Dell. Is there any way around this? Thanks.
 
Microsoft Office 2000 or XP. Both have a Service Pack 3.

I'm referring to exactly what I wrote Windows XP SP3...the update shows up
everyday with my automatic updates. It's an update for security, Word 2002,
Powerpoint 2002, Excel 2002, etc.

The update, I found out, is for Office XP SP3 and I don't happen to have the
original Office CD because my programs were pre-installed when I got my
computer.

Once again, there is no Windows SP3. You must be talking about Office.

Contact Dell and ask them for the Office XP CDs.

You could go to the following link and try upgrading manually.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/officeupdate/default.aspx

If you are offered a choice pick the one that says something about looking
for larger files so you don't have to insert your disk. Sometimes you are
not offered the choice. If you aren't then you'll have to contact Dell and
ask for the disks.
