Hi,

I am trying to apply service pack 2 fro the .net framework. However when I
try to run the install, I get an error message saying:

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer Service
because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may
update a different version of the program.

The service pack is also listed on the windows update site, and also fails
to install.

Can anyone help?

Mark

Miha,

I do have 1.1 installed, however I assumed it was required because it
appears on the windowsupdate site. Is there any way to remove this? There
is bound to be a config file somewhere on my PC?

Miha,

In defense of Mark, Microsoft is always telling us to keep
our programs updated with the latest patches. How are we
supposed to know which programs to install and which to
ignore when they are listed on the Windows Update page? We
may be leaving our computers open to security holes, etc
if we don't keep them updated.

Good point.

I would suggest to check if .net framework 1.0 is installed or not.
If it isn't there is absolutely no need to patch it, right?
