I have question regarding Service Pack 2 upgrade for Windows XP. Everytime I
try upgrading I get an error that reads as follows;

" Unable to Read or Write to the Database"

I dd a search on Google on this error and found some interesting fixes but
none fix my problem. Any idea, anyone. I have upgraded 5 other systems and
have no problems. This is the first system I've run into this error.

Please let me know or write to me at; (e-mail address removed)

or Redirect to me to the right newsgroup.

Thanks in advance,

Roberto

Try to locate the folder where you have downloaded xpsp2.And then open
the "Update" folder. Double-click 'update.exe' to initiate the process.
If you still find problem, you may try to install from XPSP2 CD.It's free.

Hi

I would think you need to delete/rename the .log files in
the folder %windir%\Security\ (and maybe %windir%\System32\CatRoot2\).

I have created a batch file that does this for you.

http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Cannot_install_Service_Pack_2

Look for fixdb.bat under "Error 0x800710D9 Unable to read from
or write to the database"
