I am planning to re-install winXp-Home Edition Service
Pack 1. I installed service pack 1 via windows update
after I purchased the machine.
Is there any way possible to back up the service pack
files and re-install them without having to download via
windows update?

Automatic Updates Downloads Cannot Be Installed on Other Computers

You can visit the following site and download SP1 directly to a new folder,
then record the SP1 file to a CD.

Windows XP Service Pack 1 (direct download)
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default..asp

Note: Select "Network Installation" (32-bit)

P.S. Make sure to disable your antivirus program and close any
open programs before installing it.
