is there a service pack inbuilt in xp professional? if
yes how to install it. its there in microsoft downloads
on net but its too heavy to download.pls respond.

Hi Harsh,

If a service pack was to be 'in-buit' in Windows XP, it would defeat the purpose of being a service pack. Service packs
contain bug-fixes and enhancements to the operating system. You can download the latest service pack 2 (network
installation package, it is 266 MBs approx) from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Or you can turn on Automatic updates on your machine, and Service Pack 2 will trickle in automatically and it will be a
much smaller download.

Windows XP 2002 version comes with SP1 and installs as
part of the original setup.

Sp1a was just a legal adjustment.

Later on there will be retail versions of 2004 or 2005 or
a label that say SP2 inside.

Slipstreaming may be a hobbish fade with the geeks, but
for me that's files that have been read-written 4 times
on MY flaky disks.
Not woth the effort.
Get a SP2 CD from MS when is comes out.
It can be used on any version of XP you may have
installed and maying a copy is esayier than ss.

IMO, :)

The Service Pack 2 will be available on a free CD that will be available
soon from Microsoft.
