Service Pack 1 missing...

There are a number of things affected by this, but let me
list the two most prominent.

I need service pack 1 in order to have my 250 GB
harddrive fully reconized without the partition; and I
also need to install the east asian language pack.

Now, knowing that I need SP1 is only half the battle. I
have a Gateway computer that came with it's own compiled
version of Windows XP and I'm not certain what came on
it, all I know is, that SP1 is not on it as far as the
computer can tell. SP1 is also not installed, seeing as I
have the afformentioned problems. That's not all though,
when I download SP1 from the website it does that
automatic detection business looking for installed
components and deciding what you need. It says I have
everything installed!!! But I don't! It's so very
frustrating.

I have run a search for specific SP1 files on every
software disk that came with this gateway computer and it
cannot find any. This is really becoming an issue short
of me calling Gateway themselves (to which they always
say, it's a Mircrosoft issue, call Microsoft = $150
service bill) However, I beleive it to be an issue with
Gateway because XP's software is on THEIR compiled
disk...So....

Anyone got some advice for me? =_=
