Has anyone noticed how Office programs have slowed down since Service Pack 3
was installed. All my virus scanning seems to take much longer.

SP-3 for XP did not impact my Microsoft Office programs, Office verison 2003
with its SP-3.

No, not at all. Not on any of the Windows machines here (running Office 2003
on some and Office 2007 on some) and not on any of the many installs I've
done for clients. You've got something else going on but without any
information about your system, etc. there's no way for me to guess what
that something would be.

Addendum - I just noticed that your subject line references Norton Internet
Security and the body of your message is about MS Office. If you meant to
ask about a relationship between these two separate things, I'm afraid I
missed that.

Norton products are garbage. If you are experiencing a slowdown in any
situation when you have a Norton product installed, this is "normal".
Uninstall Norton and use a better antivirus program. I particularly like
NOD32, Avast if you need a free one. See if your issues disappear after
dumping Norton.

My experience is completely different. Neither Office programs, nor
anything else, has slowed down at all since SP3 was installed. And
that's on several computers.

Don't Panic!
OK, will continue to search for a cause. My reference to virus checking is
from the dialog as an office file opens. It does not display until the doc
has been checked. I assumed that was a Norton function. Anything that passes
through has really slowed after SP3.

Thanks, that will be worth a try

I updated 2 of our 3 computers w/ Service Pack 3 and both are slower.
Neither have Norton on them. Any suggestions?
