We are running Windows 2000 Advanced Server. We are running the Help Desk
software on this server. One of the Help Desk services goes down once a
week. The software vendor said it is a bug and will be fixed in the next
release. Is there a way to write a batch file or script to check when this
service goes down and to restart the service automatically again? Thanks.

If the service is registered, you can use the Services applet in
Administrative Tools. Right click on the service and select properties.
Click the Recovery tab and change the default recovery settings to Restart
the service.

Thank you very much. It was too easy and I did not see it. I won't know if
it works until it fails again sometime this week. Will I be able to see
that the service has been restarted in the Event Viewer? Thanks.
