I keep getting
"The Cpapnioncf service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."
and
"The Gpmssaor service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."
in the event properties. This happens at startup.

I can find no reference to these in the knowledge base. What are they? Are
they important? Are they a virus?

The reason I looked in the first place was that my computer started coming
to a dead stop two or three times a day. Ctrl, Alt, Del doesn't work.
Nothing moves - the screen is frozen. All I can do is hold the power button
down 5 seconds thus turning the system off and rebooting. It might run all
day without a problem. Or it might run just a little while. I have swapped
out the memory and tried some other things to no avail. It happens
frequently while running Photoshop, but can happen in any program such as the
browser or when running backup. Any ideas are would be appreciated.

I am running Win2k on a Dell dual processor workstation with 2g of memory
with 1.7 meg Xeon processors.

Thanks
Bob

Check device Manager for non-starting devices and or error codes. Else you
can set the service 'Startup Type' for each to disabled to suppress the
errors. They're nothing to do with the operating system if that's what
you're asking.

I find no devices "non-starting". Thank you for stating these have nothing
to do with my dead stop problem. I would still like to pursue that problem.

Bob

Control Panel|Admin Tools|Services and set the service 'Startup Type' for
each to disabled.

When in Device Manager go to View and select Show hidden devices in case its
