Servers missing in AD Sites and Services

Noticed today that 2 of our member servers don't show in
the servers folder of Sites and Services. Our 2 DC's do
show though. The rest of the domains in the forest seem to
have all their servers showing. I know I can right click
on the server folder and add a server. Is that the proper
way to do it?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

AD Sites and Services does not show member servers, just DCs. That's because
DCs are part of the replication topology and AD Sites and Services is the place
to configure to which site they belong. Member Servers and Clients
automatically adjust what Site they belong to during netlogon, so there's
absolutely no need to do anything with them in AD Sites and Services.

Not entirely correct. Member servers will not register in Sites and Services
(actually the site section of the configuration partition) by default;
however applications can force a registration. One member server in
particular that will register is any server running the Exchange ADC
service. I expect there will be more as we go forward.

Sorry - you're right, forgot about the applications.
