Servername is server, Domain name is Domain

We have recently taken over IT support for a small
client. The server setup is very messy as follows:
1 win2k AD server which also holds Exchange 2000.
Servername is server.
Domain name is domain.

As you can see they didn't have much imagination when
naming the server and domain.
They were initially using win98 PCs, but when we when in
to Install win2k PCs, the odd thing was that we can join
the domain, but when we go to logon, it states that it
cannot find the domain "domain". We have checked the
network connectivity and that is all ok. I thinkit is a
naming issue in the server/domain end, although they
could do with more memory.

Does anyone have any info on issues with Server and
domain names set as above. pls help?
SP3 is on the server, with 500mb ram.
Thanks

DNS is the most likely cause of your logon problems, check the client is
configured to use only the local DNS server and the server is using only
itself for DNS resolution.

Thanks, but checked that already. DNS settings are
correct. Also did NSlookups as well

I had this exact problem at one of our sites recently. We were pushed for
time so did not properly get to the bottom of the problem. The quick
solution we came up with was to rename the machine that was having the
problem joining up to the domain and that 'solved' the problem.
