Ok, here is my question:
I currently am hosted with http://www.1and1.com

they have asp page supported hosting separated from MySQL databases.

Is there an issue with having asp pages hosted with a host provided MySQL
database? I am trying to find a provider that has a reasonalbe package with
3 MySQL databases that also supports asp pages. OK, I know there's an issue
here somewhere, but I am not too db oriented.

Any help, links suggestions appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Dan

Hi Ron
I was wondering if the host that you use supports password protected
FrontPage subwebs. The host that I am currently using stopped supporting
that part of FrontPage SE's for some reason and I am looking for a new home
for my site.

Thanks
Jeff

If you are hosted on Windows IIS, then you should consider using ASP/VBScript and Access to maintain
login info instead, since that would allow you more control over your users.

Hi Thomas
My site is currently on a Windows2003 IIS6 server so your suggestion should
work but I don't know if my host would support that with the plan that I
have. I have not had any experience with ASP/VBScript so I'm not sure if
it's over my head or not!! The FrontPage solution worked fine for what I
wanted. I didn't need anything fancy or technical and I am just protecting
digital image categories that I have.

Is ASP/VBScript something that is straight forward to use?

Thanks
Jeff

If you are just trying to protect files (images) then setting permissions on folders via the OS or
via FP subwebs would be the best option.

ASP/VBScript with Access would allow you to protect the pages that display the images via login.

The one and only problem I have had (involving a Perl script) was
solved in 8 hours - reported by email at 2AM their time.
There is a Toll free, 24/7 telephone help desk, but this will be
chargeable from UK, unless you use a VOIP service such as Skype.

I have yet to see a problem a problem with ASP, using 2 Access
databases containing around thirty tables between them.

They do support FP subwebs with unique permissions. There is also a
facility in the control panel for securing folders without using the
extensions.
