Hello Guys,

I am having a hard time figuring out this problem. I ran
dcpromo and went through the process of making it a new
domain tree in an existing forest. I now try to dcpromo
to demote the server and make it a memeber server and I
get the following eror.

I have a DC which i want to demote so that the domain is
removed from my forest.

when installed the DC used the DNS servers from the other
tree in the forest (AD integrated zone), it also set up
it's own DNS server for the new domain.

now when i run dcpromo to remove the directory it says:

operation failed because:
the directory service failed to replicate off changes
made locally
the DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS
lookup failure.

i can set the machine to use it's own DNS server, or the
others from the other domain (same forest), but still get
the same problem. I am clueless in what to do next...

Your help would be very helpfull.

I have gone through all those steps, still same
problem...I have pointed the IP address to itself under
primary DNS and even pointed it to the Root Domain
Controller of the forest, still same outcome.
