Hey

We have a small network that connects 5 computers together from a server 2000. Now, the computer I work at has had a few problems in the past, but nothing quite like this. I came into work one day and I logged on. Then I tried to log onto the server..

"the drive or network connection is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again.

For the past month this has never happened and I do not recall doing anything to this computer or the server to make it act like this. Well anyway, I used ipconfig, tracert, ping, pathping, etc. and my computer could detect the server. However, I tried the exact same commands on the server and it could not find the computer. When I went into the workgroup to see all the computers I checked them all out by clicking on them and when I clicked on the problem computer it sai

"network path not found

anybody know why the computer can see the server, but the server cannot see the computer?

Hi

Maybe this will help

1. Uninstall all clients, protocols, and services including tcp/ip **
2. Reboot and reinstall them.
3. make sure that none of the services are unchecking themselves again in
the
properties of your connection.

**Note: in Windows XP you have to do the following:

- modify nettcpip.inf by changing 'characteristics=A0 to
characteristics=80.
- install tcpip over itself by using the HAVE DISK button and pointing it
over to
c:\windows\inf.
- now you can proceed to uninstall tcp/ip.
