Check the dependencies to see if it shows the server service is dependent on
another service [normally it is not] and make sure that service is able to
be started. Check Event Viewer for any pertinent errors that may help
pinpoint the problem and be sure to run a full virus scan on your computer
with the latest updates from your vendors website. Trend Micro has a free
tool called Sysclean that can also detect AND remove a lot of malware and
does not need to be installed - just run from the same folder as the
matching pattern file. Uninstalling and reinstalling file and print sharing
is worth a try. Also run the netdiag support tool to see what if any
errors/failed tests may be reported that may indicate the problem. It may
also help to run System File Checker as in sfc /scannow though you can have
files replaced for hotfixes if you are not running Service Pack4. --- Steve
