Inherited this domain controller issue.

Someone named the domain name - server.domain.com and the
computer name shows server.server.domain.com. Is there
anyway to correct this? Can I add another DC and redo the
original without losing the user accounts?

Thanks in advance

You can run DCPROMO on another machine to make it a new DC in the domain.
Allow some time for replication to complete with the new domain controller.
This new DC will then have a copy of Active Directory and therefore have a
copy of your domain users accounts. You can then run DCPROMO on the old DC
to remove it as a DC and make it a member server in the domain. At that
time you could then rename the machine. After renaming, if you wished, you
could run DCPROMO on it again and make it a DC in the domain again.
