The company I do part-time support for have two servers on their Windows
2000 domain. The older server ('company-uk1') which was the PDC and
Exchange server is being retired and the newer pure data/print server
('company-data') is being promoted to carry out all functions. User
profiles, home drive mappings and Outlook profiles point in some cases to
the 'company-data' server but not in a standard fashion.
I am using 'Symantec LiveState Recovery' to back up the 'company-data'
server before using it to migrate the old server onto the new one, and then
copying the data folders back from backup. So the new 'company-uk1' server
will be acting as both servers.
To reduce workload and the need to make changes on various workstations/user
profiles, is it possible to give the new 'company-uk1' a pseudonym so that
it also responds to 'company-data'?
Your assistance would be appreciated.
