Server Problems/Upgrades

As you may have noticed, the new PC Review server has been experiencing loads of up to 900 concurrent users. Although this had plenty of room for expansion 7 days ago, it is now at its peak - a victim of its own success unfortunately!

Within the next 2 weeks, a second server will be added for dedicated PHP and MySQL database servers. Hopefully this should speed things up once and for all!

I do apologise if posting take a little longer than expected, but unfortunately it is proving difficult to find the correct combination of servers to allow for dedicated database access.

Update - This problem may actually be fixed now without the need for a new server. I have switched over the type of database tonight and it seems to be performing much better.
 
Got that right, i have a least 2 database errors here.

Dont complain, If I remember correctly u were screaming out for member a couple years ago when u had just started the board.

Success has it's casualties m8 ;)

I know what forums can do to machines, nearly cripples them lol :)

Is the new server going to match the current spec of this one?

More or less, faster hard drives though - probably 2 x 73GB RAID and 2GB Ram but still Dual 2.8 Xeons.

I've isolated the problem now, so I can sort it out in a couple of weeks once I figure out how to do it ;)

Seems quite fast tonight actually, seems to be navigating around the pages fairly fast.

I'm just making some small tweaks now to see how they perform, as it should stop some thread locking.
 
I just like to say its great that there have been lots of newcomers since i joined, and i have not even been here that long!
