Sorry if this is the wrong news group, but have a small problem I cannot
find the answer to on the MS Support pages.

Have a small server running WinServer2000, and its hard drive is around
2GB. Just taken this job over, and the disk is full. tried DeFrag, but
no help, too many files in too many places.

Now I thought I'd pop a bigger Drive in, probably with help, but I have
been told that WinSwerver 2000 will only enable a 2GB Root Drive. Is
this so?

If not what size can I put in?

I know this is a bit of a cheek, but before I get experts in to tell me
I cannot do what I want and charge the earth for the pleasure, I thought
Id get your expert opinion first, and decide if I should be looking at a
server upgrade instead.

many thanks for any help offered.

Not sure of how big a drive it supports, but it is alot bigger
than 2GB. I have Win2k Advanced Server, and I've used an 80GB drive as
the root drive.

Is WinServer2000 what the rest of us know as Microsoft Windows 2000 Server?
In that case you should have no problem using a bigger drive. If you use
SCSI, sky's the limit, if you use IDE your BIOS might have some kind of
restrictions.

What MTA do you use?

Linux, the choice of a GNU generation. Check in Disk Management, it may
be a larger drive that was setup with FAT16, which has a 2GB limit. If you
do need to move to a larger drive, use Norton GHOST to move everything
across.
