Server not showing in Explorer after dialup

I am using Win95 to connect to a Win2k server via dialup.

About a month ago I was able to dialup to the server, the connection went
fine, and under Windows Explorer I could see the server folder and I could
transfer files from the server.

Today the dialup and connection work fine, but the server folder does not
appear under Windows Explorer. No changes have been made to either system.

I feel as though I haven't given you enough information, but I don't know
what else to tell you. Any ideas as to what might have happened?

I just set up a dialup connection to the same Win2k server from my WinXP
Home SP2 system. I dialed and connected, my ID and password worked, and I
have the same result: The server does not appear under Windows Explorer.

This may sound like a dumb question, but is it safe to assume that the
problem is with the server and not with the dialup clients?

I seem to be carrying on a conversation by myself, but something new
occurred.

I tried again with the Win95 system, but on the advice of a friend, I went
through My Network Neighborhood. Along the way, I stumbled across
something that asked for the server name, so I answered, and everything
worked fine after that. I could see the server and transfer files.

Of course you could see this coming, but later on I tried again, and I
couldn't remember where I ran across the screen that asked for the server
name, and so I'm back to square one.

Re my dumb question below, it's clearly NOT a problem with the server.

I'm hoping that, sooner or later, this thread will spark some interest in
SOMEONE!
