New computer with Vista. Want to set up Windows Mail e-mail
but stumped when setup asks for POP3 & SMTP server names.Appreciate this
information. Many thanks.

Hi. I have Vista Home Premium. I had windows mail working fine until I tried
to set up another windows email account for my wife on another computer
(hers is wireless XP, mine is the primary computer and hard-wired).
It seems to me that this should not have affected anything on the primary
computer...

Windows help-page says to check the "secure connection" box for incoming
email, but this causes the earthlink server to terminate the connection.
Windows mail still seems to receive mail from my earthlink web-mail account.

Any ideas? Thank you

Follow the money...

Check your ISP's (internet service provider) email support web pages
or other documentation.

Who is your ISP?

So you have two computers checking the same email account?
By default, the one that downloads messages first will delete them
from the server. If you want both computers to receive the same
messages, set both of them to leave a copy on the server:
Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Advanced.

It may a good idea to use "imap" protocol to connect to the same mailbox by
two different computers. An imap connection leave messages on the server
instead of downloading them to your local client (Windows Mail).

Greatz,
Paul

IMAP is good, but unfortunately very few mail providers offer it.
