I've spoken to the hosts about the recent server problems, and they are currently looking into the issue for me. I've tried everything I can see to solve it, but they are going to have a look too.

It might mean that the server is reset at some point, but I won't be able to know when this will be (as they are working on it remotely).

I will let you all know how this goes today :thumb:

It does seem like gremlins :D

The main problem is an lsass.exe crash (one of those 60 seconds to shutdown messages) when I'm logged in using remote desktop. I've tried everything... it isn't a worm (like sasser), it's fully patched, tried the related ms hotfixes, sercurity settings etc... are correct.

Very baffling, and the only long term solution seems to be a re-format of the server, which may be on the cards in a few weeks if it can't be fixed. MS techs have the details and are looking at it for the moment, so I will see what happens :)

At the moment its a Dual 2.8 Xeon, 2GB Ram, 2 x 73GB SCSI drives, Win2k3 SP2.

admin where is this main server located?
your electricity bill must be very high

The server will be located in a datacenter PSD, it's not running from Ian's place of residence.

Datacenters just for example look something like this;

They are racks full of servers.

bloody heck!

That does look very complex indeed.

So who actually owns these servers?

lol nah barely got space for myself here let alone servers of that magnitude!

do your hosts maintain your server?
or are you leasing a server and servicing it yourself?
