I am running a Windows 200 Server file server. It appears that it is
shutting down during the night between 1.00 and 2.00am. Sometimes when it
boots up, it can't find the MAC address. Once I do a couple of restarts, it
starts up fine.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thanks in advance

If no BSOD's occur (Event ID: 1001 Source: Save Dump), then it may be a
power problem. I would look at a possible faulty (or undersized) pc power
supply, UPS, bad battery, or the circuit feeding the outlet that the pc is
plugged into.

Regarding the MAC address issue. Try disabling and re-
enabling your NIC in network properties so you don't have
to keep rebooting your server.

Regarding the power issue, check the things suggested in
the other posts. Also, make sure there are not any
scripts running or scheduled tasks that reboot it at
night. Type in AT at the command prompt to see if there
is anything there. Make sure that any applications such
as anti-virus and other auto-updating applications are not
set to automatically reboot the server after updates are
complete. Make sure your outlets are not on a switch, and
make sure the cleaning person is not unplugging your
server to plug in the vacuum.
