Hi,
I have an application using automation, which holds on to the Outlook
session (using OOM) once it got one to speed up things a little. The whole
thing is non-visual, i.e. I don't display any Outlook windows. However, when
I try to start Outlook with a pre-selected profile, things work fine. Note
that this even seems to be the case when it's a different profile.
But when I enable the option Tools -> Options -> Mail Services -> "Prompt
for a profile to be used", I get the following message when I try to start
Outlook:
"The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition
persists."
I am wondering:
a) why can I start Outlook with a different profile than that of the
existing session? I thought there can be only one session with one profile.
b) is there any way to tell Outlook to attach to an existing session, if it
exists, instead of trying to show the profile selection dialog?
I am using Outlook 2000 SP3 with Exchange 2000.
Thanks for your insight,
