Any ideas about that error message?? I have been messing with FP for 2 days
now and cannot save a page and now I cannot even open a page. I have my
website on my hard drive so it is not like I am trying to contact any
servers. Also my CPU usage is real high and I am not doing anything. Can
anyone help??
Kevin

Are you by any chance using Yahoo IM??
It claims port 80 for it's P2P file sharing feature.
If so, shut it down and then try.

Thanks Steve - actually I was. I shut it down and now when I try to open a
page in FP it says "retrieving page.htm" and the little world turns and it
takes almost 5 minutes to happen. Then when I make a small change on the
page and click save (pages are small and 95% text) the world turns for
another 5 minutes or so and it says "requesting date..." in the lower right.
Any ideas on this??
Thanks again
Kevin

First, make sure Yahoo is set to NOT automatically launch
on boot up.

Second, clear your browsers cache and history files.

Reboot and then open FrontPage and see what happens.

I am receiving a similar message on a site that has worked
fine up until a few days ago.

If I try to up date the pages via the template function or
I try to upload the site (basically anything the has to
build a list of files in the site) I receive the
message "server "" time out"

It is not a function of the Frontpage installation as the
same error does not occur with other web sites I am
working on.

It is still taking forever to save a page. Do you know if MSN Messenger
causes a similar problem? I have that start and log-on when I boot up.
Thanks again guys
Kevin

....and I found something interesting while working on this. While it is
"requesting data" while I am saving (the globe is still turning) I tried
uploading the page using my outside FTP program (which is what I now use
since my host dropped the FP extensions) and the changes showed up!! When I
went back to FP it still appeared to be in the process of saving the pages.
So maybe FP is actually saving the pages quickly and just getting "hung up"
for some reason.
Any thoughts on this?
Kevin

If the server doesn't have FP extensions,
the only way you can publish is FTP.
Publishing via http:// requires the extensions.
