Hello folks:

I have seen the server info- machine name, ip address, logged on user,
memory and processor displayed on the server desktop. I was wondering how it
is done, I am not talking about BigInfo. Please let me know, I would like to
do the same on our servers.

Thanks.

The only way I know how to do this involves either BGInfo or some variation
on that product.

Great product. I use it on all my own servers and customers' servers.

BgInfoThis fully-configurable program automatically generates desktop
backgrounds that include important information about the system including IP
addresses, etc, etc...

Why not just use BGInfo. Great product, easy to configure, invaluable
and.... *FREE*....

I suppose you could try and contact the sysinternals folks, but since
they are now part of MS.... :-(

Hank,

I posted the URL to download BGInfo in my previous post. It was picked up by
Microsoft.

I don't think you understood. I was saying that, if the OP really wanted
to roll his own he could *try* to contact Sysinternals for information.

Sorry, Hank. I misunderstood!

I missed the rest of the thread. But if he simply wants info about the
machine on the Desktop (all I know is the subject line),...then just use
BGInfo. Create a simple batch file to run it from and place a Shortcut to
the batch file in the Startup folder of the Start Menu in the All Users
Profile.

For some strange reason the OP specifically said "...I am not talking
about BGInfo" so he obviously wants a different approach.

Personally I always use BGInfo - I can't think of a reason not to.

Funny, we all overlooked that. Darn!

<Remind self to re-read posts>

The only other one I know was called Machine, but I haven't seen that around
in quite some time.

Ok. Well, like I said, I didn't have the earlier messages.

Same here, I use it all the time.
