Hi,
I am new to this but I heard one can set up a web server on a regular
computer with Cable Internet Connection.
Is it true? If so, I need someone to explain to me how do I go about
doing it?
I would like to make a simple web site with just my resume and a few
other thing and wouldhost it on my machine...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards all!

Check with your ISP user agreement before you go to all that trouble. Many
ISPs won't allow you to run a server on a home broadband connection.

Yes, it is true.
You will probably need a dedicated pc for the job. It will have to be
left turned on all the time.
You will need a web server (software). There are several options that
are freeware. Here ya go:
http://www.snapfiles.com/downloadfind.php?st=web+server&search=Search&lc=1&action=s

If you have an ip address that changes each day the whole task may
become more difficult for you, depending on your level of knowledge.

You may be better off considering a free hosting site where you can
put your own web pages on. There are many options available. Some have
banners, popups and advertising on them. This will get you started:
http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Web_Space/

Your website would generally be something like this
http://www.yourusername.thefreehostsitename.com
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your ISP may have web space already available for you to use.
In that case your site would be something like this:
http://www.yourISP.com/~yourusername

Call your main page index.htm and you're off.
Thanks in advance.

Your ISP (Cogeco) offers 10 Mb free webspace with high speed internet.
See:

http://www.cogeco.ca/en/faq_internet_web_space_o.html

That should be more than enough to do what you want.
