Good day,

I have a terminal server that has been hanging/freezing for the past couple
of days. I have noticed that within perfmon, memory - pages/sec are spiked
at 100%! Is this normal for a terminal server, or does it point to some
hardware/software issue? Pagefile settings seem to be ok, plenty of memory
and hard disk space as well as frequent planned reboots...

Any ideas?

Thanks

- Joe

Hi Joe,

It could be a problem with the RAM on your Server.

I was similar problems and also TS blue screen with Kernel errors and I
changed & upgraded the RAM, which has solved the problem.

It may be worthwhile checking the RAM is not faulty.

Cheers

Pete

We are seeing a similar problem on Windows XP. We have a run time database
that seems to get hung up sometimes when it is writing data to files. The
pages/sec value goes very high for anywhere from 10-20 seconds to 2-3 minutes.

In our investigation we have found that we can easily spike the pages/sec
value on any system. Bring this value up in the performance monitor. Close
all windows explorer windows. Open a new windows explorer then minimize it.
The pages/sec value goes very high for 10-15 seconds. This has happened on
every system I've tried it on, no matter the processor speed, swap file size
or memory installed. Does anyone have an explanation of what this behavior
is?

Anything in the EventLog? Is the database located on a file server?
If so, check if this applies:
