Server Explorer Phenomena

Here's the skinny:
XP Pro w/ Visual Studio.2002

Just installed SQL Server 2000 Developer which starts up fine.

The issue: In VS.2002, any instances of SQL under "SQL Servers" will
not expand at all. Furthermore, prior installations of the MSDE 2000
will not either. In essence, my Server Explorer was been rendered
useless. 12 hours later I'm clueless.

I did make some registry changes per Microsoft's suggestions for removing
a previous eval version of SQL. However, I've restored the registry to ensure
that those changes were not the cause. Having verified his, I removed the
old instances once more and the system has only a default instance now.

Again, SQL Server 2000 itself has started up just fine and I've confirmed
that though the server manager and the command prompt.

Any ideas out there?

Hi Zach,
Any ideas out there?

After reading your whole message I thought why is Zach not asking this in a
SQL server newsgroup.

And therefore my advice ask it there also.
And let us know if you found it there?

Hello Cor,

I will take you advice and post it in
the SQL Setup group as well.

However, my rationale for posting
here first is based upon the fact that
SQL does not appear to be the root issue.
I have removed SQL in its entirity only
to have the same phenomena occur. Strange.
A base level funcionality (ie, Server
Explorer) in the Visual Studio IDE has
decided not to work for one reason or
another.

Are you aware of any Visual Studio
specific groups out there? Thanks again
for the advice!

Blessings...

Hi Zach,
