Steve,
The Filemon logs should be MUCH smaller than that. What you're doing is
just getting a Filemon log for ONE request against the Web server. You
should be reproducing this error on every single request.
Once you get a manageable size out of the files, simply e-mail the log to
me by leaving off the word "online" in my e-mail address.

Jim,
I was able to reproduce the error but the log files are
fairly large (one is 10MG). I created three logs, the
first was to monitor until I reproduced the problem. To
reproduce it I keep running iisreset (about 5 times) until
I got the error. The second log file is hitting the site
after I ran iisreset to try to resolve the issue. The
third is just hitting the site directly getting the
error. How do you want me to send them?
Thanks
Steve Buster

Jim,
Let me express again my thanks for the help. Until I
get the utility installed and working the event log is
below. Like I said initially, this seems to be very
sparatic, it work work for a day and then stops, maybe
fixes itself. Most of the time it seems to stop after I
submit an iisreset command. And when it does happend I
have to restart the server just to get it back up. Also,
don't know if it has anything to do with it but there are
quit a few perlib errors. Added one below just in case.
Anyway, here is the info. I'll get the logs ASAP.
Thanks Again.

Steve,
What do you see in the Application Event Viewer log?
Anything with a
source of ASP.NET?
Can you run a Filemon log when requesting the app and
send it to me? Here
are instructions:
* Go to
http://www.sysinternals.com and download File
Monitor.
* Unzip File Monitor into the directory of your choice.
* Run Filemon.exe to start File Monitor.
* Hit Ctrl-E to stop capturing and then hit Ctrl-X to
clear the display.
* Get set up so that you are ready to generate the
error. We want the
smallest amount of time to pass between the time that we
start capturing
with File Monitor and the time the error occurs.
* Hit Ctrl-E in File Monitor to start capturing.
* Immediately generate the error.
* As soon as the error occurs, switch to File Monitor
and hit Ctrl-E to
stop capturing.
Now choose Save on the File menu in File Monitor and
send
the log to me so
that I can analyze it.

Jim,
Thanks so much for responding, nice to know someone
cares. However, I double checked this and it seems the
ASPNET user is already assigned this role. Any other
ideas?
Thanks
Steve Buster

Steve,
SP4 introduced a new user right called "Impersonate a
client after
authentication". The ASPNET account must have this
user
right. If you
give it that right, does it resolve your problem?

All right, I have read every forum, newsgroup etc
about
this issue and no one seems to know how to fix it. I
am
getting a "Server Application Unavailable" exception
running my .NET 1.1 application. I use W2K SP4 and
have
applied the hot Fix KB824146 and KB824105, both IE
fixes.
I don't have VS installed because this is a Quality
Environment. I do have .NET SDK and .NET 1.1 Runtime
installed. I can't change my APSNET user to run as
system
account because this would open security holes. Does
anyone have any other suggestions. I do seem to
think
it
happends when I run iireset. In my opinion
reinstalling .NET, IIS, OS etc is not acceptable
because
what is going to happen if I see this error in prod?
