Server 2000 File and Folder Tracking??

Hello All

I'm running Server2000 SP4 and im having issues with
users moving or deleting files and folders. When I remove
the delete options in the security tab of the folder it
also removes the ability to rename newly created folders,
and the end users need to be able to create and name new
folders.

Rather than make everyone suffer from one persons mistake
id rather find this one individual and educate them.
Is there a way to track who last used or deleted a file
or folder? If not is there any third party software
manufacture that offers this ability?

You could try enabling auditing of object access and then audit the folder, but you
will have to go through a lot of events in the security log and substantially
increase the size of the security log. If interested in trying it, see KB link
