We are buying another server and it will have the 2003 OS on it. All our
other servers are W2K. Any integration issues with regard to Active
Directory?

Shouldn't be any at all.

Peckham,

Further to what David stated: if you plan on simply joining this WIN2003
Server to your existing WIN2000 AD Domain as a Member Server then there
should not be any problems. However, if you choose to make this WIN2003
Server a Domain Controller then you will need to first 'update' your WIN2000
AD to WIN2003 AD. I *believe* that you do this by running the /adprep
switch from the WIN2003 CD. I have not yet done this so please confirm this
in a test environment ( or from someone who has ).

I know that Matjaz and several others have done this in WIN2000 environments
so that 1) when the time comes they will be already 'prepared' and 2) to
take advantage of some of the really cool WIN2003 AD tools ( the ds* set of
tools ).

HTH,

Cary

Hello,

If you wish to promote the Windows 2003 system to be a DC, you will need to
run ADPREP /Forestprep (updates the schema) and ADPREP /Domainprep.

Otherwise it will simply be a member server in your Windows 2000 domain.
