Serious problem with Internet Connections

hi,
we have been suffering a lot with our internet connection.we have cable
modem and AT&T broadband. the problem we are facing is the internet gets
disconnected at once. we have to reboot the system to make it work again. we
tried one option to run ipconfig/renew at command prompt. It helped for some
days. but now even that way is not working.. it's really painful to reboot
the system in the middle of browsing the internet. Our operating system is
windows XP.

can any one help us out by giving any suggestions.

Hi,

Had the same problem. It was signal strength on the
cable. ATT(comcast) was out here several times. I kept
pestering them until they fixed it. They sold me a
amplifier, switched out some cable in my house. Also, it
could be your cable modem, you may ask them to replace it
with a newer model as that may help as well.

When you lose the connection, do the lights on your cable modem
indicate activity?
