Hi Folks:

I have searched far and wide for an answer and no luck.

Situation:
IE7, after my last shutdown--well I boot up and I run it--looks like it is
hanging conencting (so a blank page and it says connecting). I go to Internet
Options-->Connections-->LAN Settings --this FREEZES (no response). RUNDLL is
not responding.

No plugins.
Firefox works fine.
Everything else connects to the Internet.
My update McAfee SecurityCenter finds NO problems.

This has happened last week. I uninstalled and then reinstalled IE7. It
fixed it. Now its back :O

I am running on a Quad Core Dell, 2GB RAM . . .nothing weird or special,
relatively new computer.
Please please help. I do need to use IE7 for some things.

Thanks

Peter

I am beginning to think that the problem may be ONLY with rundll32.exe

I will rescan my computer again . . . but let's assume there is no virus,
spyware,e tc.

Cheers

Peter

As far as when I've seen this happen its usually caused by one or more of
the various toolbars installed with ie. To test this go to Start > All
Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer(no add ons).
If this connects fine and allows you to go through your internet options
just fine, then one or more of your toolbars are possibly corrupt or
incompatible.
Best of luck,

No add ons . . .

Reinstalled IE6 (removed IE7 that is). Works again--but this happened last
time and I want to use IE7.

I checked where rundll32.exe was sitting, checked size--all legit.

So, no viruses nor spyware/malware (unless my McAfee scans have been
inaccurate).

No add ons . . .

Would anything happen in the registry?

Hopefully this won't reappear soon.
