serious magic ovation software and office 2007

I cannot import a ppt file into ovation or serious magic ovation software.
Even though I change the pptx extension to a ppt none of the slideshow
imports correctly. I have only one slide repeated. Can anyone suggest what
fix there might be to this problem?
 
How did you change the extension from PPTX to PPT?

Have you checked with Adobe? I think they sell Ovation now.

Changing the extension of a file is a little like changing the label on the
Salt container to say "Sugar". It's still salt inside and it's gonna make the
coffee taste REALLY bad.

If you have PPT 2007, open the file in that and save it out in 97-2003 (PPT)
format. That may work. Or have whoever sent you the file in the first place
do that, if you don't have 2007.
