My ps/2 mice stopped working altogether on my PC after this last update. It
seems to be a common problem. It works on other computers, but not this one.
Is there anyway to fix my PC so that my mice can work on it once again?

It does not seem to be a Windows problem since my PS/2 mouse is still work
(and I have the last Windows update installed.) Have you checked in Device
Manager to see if the mouse is listed there? Check in the BIOS/CMOS so as to
see if the PS/2 mouse option might be turned off. Have you tried a
"different" PS/2 mouse on this "defective" PC?

If the PS/2 mouse still is non-functional after re-installing its
drivers, then the problem is a hardware one. It is not unusual for
the i8042 chip for a PS/2 port to burn out on the motherboard. Or
it can even be a defect in the PS/2 port itself, such as a sleeve
for a pin on the PS/2 plug becoming mis-aligned or pushed back into
the housing.
