I have a PATA connection on my current hard drive and I would like to add a
new second hard drive with SATA connection. Will this work or do both hard
drives have to be configured as one or the other?

You might have to check the BIOS and see if the SATA is enabled; sometimes
there are RAID settings to deal with as well.

Yes, it does support SATA drives. Will I have to change any BIOS settings?

mk:
As Jon has informed you, there is generally no problem mix & matching PATA &
SATA drives. You may have to change the boot priority order in the BIOS of
your motherboard, but even that may not be necessary if the SATA HD is the
*only* bootable HD connected at the time of bootup. There's no standard
procedure re this situation among motherboards. The best thing to do is to
consult your motherboard's user guide re this issue or use the trial & error
approach.
