Hi all,

I have a column that contains last names.
Some of the last names contain generational data such as II, III, JR,
SR etc on the end.
Ex. Miles Jr. or Johnson III.

Is there a way in MS Access to create a query that would select the
generational data and move it into a seperate column? Since the
generational data will always remain the same it would be helpful to
have a query instead of manually doing this.

I can't query it to seperate wherever there is a space because some
people have two-worded last names. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

I would build a query to pull all the records where two "words" exist in the
last name field. I'd include my "generation" field in the query, then just
manually fix them. I can't imagine more than about 10% of your records
would include two or more words.
