Is there a restriction of how many computers you can load a copy of Windows
on? I'm not talking about pirating or bootlegging copies but have a desktop
with Win XP Pro and I'm getting a notebook w/o an OS and would like to
install my copy on there also. My initial understanding is I need a
separate copy of Win for each machine. However looking at the
Specifications for Win XP Pro it shows under License Quantity - 2
processors.

So would I be legit or not???

Two processors means two processors, not two computers.

Each installation of Windows XP requires a different Product Key (license) that
you must purchase. Otherwise, Product Activation will fail.

The 1-2 CPU notation means you can install XP Pro on a computer
that has either one or two processors installed.

No, you buy a server version of Windows that supports 4 processors.

No, then you need server software. XP Pro will only use a max of 2 physical
processors.

CPU - Control Processor Unit = synonym for processor
XP Pro can run on PCs having up to two processors onboard. This is not a
license restriction, but an operating system restriction.

XP is limited to one installation on one PC per licensing restriction. Want
more, buy another license or another XP with license.
