separate audio from video

I am trying to get a cell phone sound effect on my movie. My computer does
not have a microphone so I can't use the narration feature. Is there a way
to record my cellphone ring on my sony digital video camera, capture it into
movie maker, and just pull the audio thread and insert it in my movie?

I use TEMPgenc to create MPG videos from Movie Maker Files, and it can be
configurated to generate audio and video files separately.
But, couldn´t be easier to buy a microphone?

You could try a google search for an MP3 or WAV of the cellphone
effect you want to capture? Or:
You could try the website of your cellphone OEM as to the audio output
capabilities of your cellphone handset?
Usually the method of capture to a PC is via the LINE-IN on the soundcard.
(Without exception, ALL XP PC's will have a soundcard that has a Line-In.)
And capture is configured via software.
So, as an educated guess:
Configure the LINE-OUT on your cellphone to
connect via an apt cable to the LINE-IN of your XP Pc.
Use software to capture in desired format.
Wishing you a happy Bon Jovi.
