after my mail is sent it doesn't leave the outbox. just
stays in there. the mail is sent, but it won't go into
sent mail. my outbox now has 100 messages in it.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out why this is the case.

please help. i've got outlook 2000 and windows 2000

thanks,

Dave

Place Outlook in Offline mode (File->Work Offline) and restart Outlook. You
should now be able to delete the message.

See if it also happen when you've got your virusscanner and/or firewall
disabled.

Try starting Outlook in safe mode. To do this start Outlook from the Start->
Run with the /safe switch

If it still happens run scanpst.exe against your pst-file and see if it
comes up with anything.

Go to Tools/Options/E-Mail Options/Advanced E-Mail Options/ and see if you
have the "in folders other than the inbox, save replies with..." checked. If
so, uncheck it and see if the problem keeps occurring...

thanks for the advice, but I don't have this checked and
I'm still having the problems. any other ideas?

thanks for the help, but it still isn't working. I have
always been able to delete the messages and it doesn't
seem to matter whether the virus software is off or on.
when I worked offline, it put sent messages in the sent
mail folder only if they were sent to email addresses that
are not in my address book. those in my address books
stayed in the outbox (but were sent).

any other advice??

thanks

Have you already tried recreating your e-mail profile?

In what mode are you using Outlook 2000? You might want to switch to CW mode
so that you can easily add a second profile in Control Panel-> Mail-> button
Show Profiles

To change to the "Corporate or Workgroup" Installation
1.. Start Outlook.
2.. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.. Click the Mail Delivery tab, and then click Reconfigure Mail Support.
4.. On the E-mail Service Options page, click Corporate or Workgroup, and
then click Next.
5.. Follow the on-screen instructions to reconfigure Outlook e-mail
support.

as per your advice I tried the switch to corporate, but
the problem still occured and besides I use multiple
accounts from the same outlook and corporate seems to make
me use only one account.

how can I recreate my internet only profile?

any other advice? I'm really lost and confused about all
this.

thanks,

Dave

Hi Roady,
I've changed back. Still no luck. My emails get sent but
they stay in outbox and don't go to sent mail. I've tried
almost everything. any more ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Roady,
Good news!! I solved the problem. It seems that my sent
mail box was at its maximum size. I took some of my old
sent mail and moved it to a new folder. now everything is
working great. thanks for all your help.

Dave
