Sent items problem

I have a problem with items that have been placed in
folders. Once an item is placed in a folder and then
replied to or forwarded the item does not show up in the
sent items folder. Rather it puts the sent item into the
same folder the original email was located. I would like
to revert all sent items to the sent items folder...

Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

In Outlook, Tools -> Options -> E-mail Options, there is an setting for
Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder. Make sure this option is
checked.

Hi I am having a similar problem with my outlook xp.
I checked the setting and the box with "Save copies of messages in Sent
Items folders" is ticked. Yet all the messages that I sent is not
copied into that folder, any ideas as to what is wrong?

Regards,

Mary

Hi,

If that setting is checked, and Outlook is still not putting sent items in
the sent items folder, then we need to try a few things.

- Create a new Outlook profile with a NEW NAME, and see if that profile
reproduces the issue
- If usign a local PST file for storage, try running the Inbox Repair Tool
on it
-- Also try a new PST file to see if we can reproduce
-- 272227 OL2000: How to Find and Run the Inbox Repair Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=272227
- Try accessing your mailbox from another PC, to see if it is possibly a
bad folder in your mailbox.

If it was just a bad Outlook profile or PST then that is our resolution.
The ScanPST utility is currently our only tool for repairing damage to a
PST file. If the issue will reproduce on another PC, then your mailbox is
in question. Please contact your system administrator about an Exmerge to
repair your mailbox. If the issue WILL NOT reproduce on another PC, we
have a possible damaged install of Outlook, or a damaged Windows profile.
To find out which, have someone else login to Windows on your PC. IF they
can reproduce the issue it is Outlook, if not it is your Windows profile.

For a damaged Outlook, try updating to the latest service pack from
http://office.microsoft.com, or try runnign a detect and repair.

For a damaged Windows profile, speak with your Administrator about helping
your migrate to a new Windows profile, so that you do nto lose any data.
